Winter Art

The only thing good about being a writer during the cold CT winter is that you can put the cans down and spend more time on your canvas projects. Since my first piece in ‘92, I really had no desire to sit down and drop a canvas.

It actually wasn’t until ‘06 when I did my first canvas. It was a trade off canvas with my boy Vers. Unfortunately here it is 2010 and I still don’t have mine from him. Maybe my canvas was that bad. Since then I really only dropped about 3 1/2 more, plus a 3-piece joint. Because to be quite honest, I really hate doing canvases.

Recently I was approached by my boy Class, from the crew C4, about a little art show he is putting on and he wants Big mutha fuckinCas to display his canvases there.

Talk about pressure, I really only have 1 good canvas, however it is a 3-piece and you definitely need more than that for these kind of gatherings. But I was like cool, no doubt, I got like a month to come up with some more pieces of art. My first thought was to drop Ebis a line to whip me up some canvases and just sign them with my name and everything will be hunky-dory. Plus they will be a lot better than anything I could drop…keep in mind, I’m still a rookie at canvases.

Instead of using a life line, I pulled myself up by my boot straps and knocked out this canvas in about a week. With 2 weeks to go I think I can come up with at least one more, hopefully. Although I started this canvas ass backwards, I documented the stages it took to complete this. And just in case you are wondering, I only used acrylic paint and paint brushes, except for the “E”, I used a metallic sharpie.
