REO’s Shingding

A couple of weeks ago our good friend REO of the Hi Cru stopped through to cop some painting supplies. Since I haven’t seen REO in about, hmmm..like 15 years, we ended up chopping it up for like 2 hours. It’s pretty scary that you can sum up 15 years of your life in like 2 hours.

So during the part of the conversation when we were talking about how cool Casper is and how uncool Vers is, he decided to school me on his upcoming event. He also told me that there was going to be a raffle of some sort going on, so immediately I told him that ILC will donate some tees and East Coast Paint Supplies will donate some cans of aerosol. Also we are going to sit down tonight and come up with a limited edition tee for this little shingding.

So if you are in the area, come on out, should be a good time.

Reminisce

As I lounge in my pretty comfortable chair designing our new ILC stickers listening to everyone talk about the big snow storm we are about to get in the cold state of CT, I started to zone out thinking about some of the shit I used to do and wear during my years as a teen during the winter season.

And of course I thought I would share some of my memories with ya’llz.

First thing that popped into my head was the Carhartt coat I used to rock with the big furry hood. Man, this was my favorite coat of all times except for the fact it was like wearing a piece of cardboard and was very hard to maneuver in. Especially if you had to sit down, I kinda felt like a turtle as my head disappeared when the coat shifted up.

And who can forget the Reebok Classics with the gum soles. These were definitley the hottest sneaks back in ‘93. And yes, I stayed with these sneaks on, any weather, didn’t matter. Besides, I don’t think Timbs started poppin’ up until the following year. So this is what I depended on to keep my feet warm during the winter season. Yeah, my feet were cold 99% of the time.

These next two memories go hand in hand. If you didn’t have this combo going on as a kid growing up in New Britain, then you were definitely not tuned in to planet Earth.

And I never left my house to roam the streets of N.B. without having one of these on me. This was definitely a mandatory item as a young writer.

My last memory that sticks is going to Downtown to catch the city bus to any of the 4 corners of N.B., but mainly to the Westfarms Mall.

See back then there was no internet, so we had to hit the mall to see what new music was out and to find some girls to chat with.

Well that was fun, I gotta get back to designing our new stickers so that I can get drunk and watch the snow come down.

Peace out,
